the last 3 months

The day we left the hospital.
week 1. Indirect sunlight

My mom came to stay the first week we were home from the hospital. She was so helpful and full of advise. I  didnt really listen at first. Then after she left I realized that maybe she knew a few things.
This is a terrible picture of Nate, but it appropriately captures the exhaustion Nate and I felt the first few weeks of baby Nathan's life.

Nate's mom stayed with us the week before Thanksgiving. She helped so much.... and Nuby was beside himself with excitement when she walked in the door.

This was taken when little Nathan was about 3 weeks. We took a walk on the pedestrian bridge over the Missouri River.

Omaha's first snow for the year. This is also about the time little Nathan started sleeping through the night. After I put him down to sleep I persuaded Nate to frolic in the snow for a bit. It was probably the first time I had been out of the house in a few days. Even though we were only outside for about 10 minutes it was so refreshing. Being a mom to a new baby is really hard... and it's nice to feel like a normal person every once in a while.

around 6 weeks. Little Nathan started smiling. This photo was taken while speaking to big Nate on speaker phone. I think it was his daddy's voice that made him smile. This is the first smile captured on camera. Now he smiles all of the time.

just cute

The picture we sent some of our friends and family for Christmas... with the caption "May your Christmas be filled with reverence and wonder".

Christmas day. We 3 had a great day. Since little Nathan broke the bank Nate and I  didnt by any Christmas presents. Instead we slept in and then he made me cinnamon rolls and I made him pumpkin pie. We listened to Christmas music all morning. We had so much fun in the kitchen together. In the afternoon we opened presents sent from Nate's parents and sister. We watched movies and ended the day with a lamb dinner.

Last week we drove to Houston for my brother's wedding. This is the bride with her parents. Her parents came all of the way from China. The day before the wedding this family was sealed in the Houston temple. I am so happy for them. They had been waiting for this day for a long time. A beautiful family. I'm not sure my brother can comprehend how lucky he is.

Somewhere between Houston and Austin

I asked a friend where we should get lunch in Austin. He recommended Juan in a Million. I think we didn't order right. It was good, but I wouldn't say great... but I guess if we were going for truly authentic Mexican food it was spot on.

My brother's wedding... or the reception. They had a ring ceremony. It was really beautiful.  My dad did a really good job. Liangzi's dad gave a toast. Of course it was in CHinese, and his nephew translated... but it was beautiful. In the toast he said that his dream of having a son was realized when his daughter and my brother married.

Nate and I took this picture two days ago. Our little boy is growing and growing and growing. I knew it would happen, but I am still amazed... He's changing and learning everyday. He's such a sweet boy... and I swear he cries out "MA" when he needs me. I am amazed by the love I have for him... and the love he gives me.

Santa bum

In this video he's only a few weeks old. I had a c-section and it still hurt to walk up the stair, laugh, cough, sneeze... everything really... anyways, thats why my laugh at the end of the video is so weird.
