About a 5 hour drive North is a small town called Tennant
Creek. From the way people talked about Tennant I expected to see a few shacks
and maybe a store. It’s actually a really quaint little place. I liked it. I
think if you live in a community as small as Tennant you are probably forced to
meet people. I wish Alice were more like that. I think people would actually
feel less lonely in Alice if it were smaller.
Nigeline took us on the one street tour. She took us out to
see the Telegraph Station, the old Gold Mine, and a dam… Nate said to call it a
heck. We tried to go see The Pebbles. The Pebbles are just a smaller version of
Devil’s Marbles. Due to the recent rains we couldn’t make it out to the
Pebbles.
P.S. I was really impressed with the food in Tennant Creek.
We went to a restaurant owned by a Portuguese family. It wasn’t a Portuguese
restaurant, but it was really good.
Probably better than most of the food in Alice.
Nate and I doubled the branch with our Sunday church
attendance. It was an interesting and quirky Sunday experience. I think it’s either the type of place
that really discourages missionaries or keeps them entertained.
On the drive home we stopped at Devil’s Marbles and a Mango
farm that sales the best mango ice cream.
